Shiroda is a small village in South Konkan (Maharashtra), just north of Goa and known for the unspoilt beaches it offers. Shiroda and Aaravali are twin villages and is decent market place where people from nearby villages come to buy things of daily use and become very busy on Sundays. Sea-food, cashew crop or mangoes, spices and even dried fish varieties can be purchased from these markets.
Duration of stay: a minimum of two day stay is recommended. Things to do:
Vengurla - Port, Light house and Vengurla’s Crawford Market. The market is a replica of Mumbai’s famous Crawford Market. There is a vegetable & fish market housed in this structure. Beaches - Sagareshwar beach, Mochemad beach, Bhogwe beach and Nivati beach are the places where you can find white sand and clear waters, an ideal spot for swimming and sunbathing. Redi Ganapati: As per local belief around about 18 years ago a man named Sadashiv Kambli had a visitation from Lord Ganesh in his dreams, telling him the location of a Ganapati idol. Thus, with the help of local workers he excavated the idol from the sea shore. The idol which was in one single piece is about 6 feet in height and 4 feet in breadth.
