Guhagar is Ratnagiri’s temple town dotted with many prominent temples but literally Guhagar means cave house. Located is a scenic environment with hilly terrain covered with green vegetation in monsoons and captivating brownish grasslands. Guhagar beach is weekend destination, and is a unique places to enjoy nature beauty and Konkani culture. The renowned Vashishti River also flows nearby. Duration of stay: A minimum of two day stay is recommended. Things to do: Temples dedicated to various forms of Lord Shiva like Vyadeshwar, Talkeshwar, Udaleshwar, Velneshwar, Balkeshwar, Chandika Mandir and a temple of Ufrata Ganapati are some of the important temples close by. Budhal is a serene and pleasant sea shore with many rough rocks in the sea shore. Anjavel – an all weather seaport is an estuary island is the southernmost bank of Vashishti River. Dhabol power project, established by Enron which converts electricity from gas is also located in Anjanvel near Guhagar. Anjanvel is an attractive place with lush green vegetations, undulated hilly terrains and home to orthodox fishing community, traditional fishing practices still practiced here. Gopalgadh (Anjanvel Fort), a scenic, trekking place in Anjanvel village in Guhagar and is said to be built by Siddis in early 16th century and conquered by Shivaji in 1660. Also visit temple and light house at the top. Guhagar beach is a major attraction to the tourists. Hedvi village located close to Guhagar, with Lord Ganesha temple and Sri Dasabhuj Lakshmi Ganesh Devasthan. The Ganesha temple is believed to be constructed during the period of the Peshwas. Brahman Ghal, a natural Gorge formed in Arabian Sea shore, in a black rock with a depth of nearly 20 feet, stretching about 35 feet with a width of 2 feet.
